Following a comfortable 3 – 3.5-hours (Approximately) drive from Arusha town and about 1 hour to drive from Moshi town to the Marangu Gate, we handle all park registration formalities before you step onto the legendary Marangu ‘(Coca-Cola)’ Route. The ascent through the lush Montane Rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,720m) is a thrilling 3 to 4.50-hours hike, covering 8.9 km of gradual, well-maintained trails, offering opportunities to spot endemic wildlife like the Black-and-White Colobus monkey. At Mandara Hut, you’ll enjoy a hearty picnic lunch amidst the serenity of the mountain. For quick and energetic hikers, your guide will lead a short, rewarding side trip to the nearby Maundi Crater viewpoint, offering spectacular, sweeping views of the plains below. After a brief rest, the downhill descent back to Marangu Gate, covering the same 8.9 km, typically takes a quicker 2 to 3 hours. You will arrive back at the gate by late afternoon, completing a 17.8 km round trip before we transfer you back to your hotel, ensuring you are back in Arusha by early evening, feeling accomplished and inspired by the scale of Kilimanjaro.
